What is a Licensed Conveyancer and what can they do?
Whilst a Solicitor is a general legal practitioner, a Licensed Conveyancer is a specialist property lawyer, someone who is trained and qualified in all aspects of the law dealing with property. This can often help to speed up the process. Licensed Conveyancers are recognised by financial institutions such as banks and lenders. They are required to purchase professional indemnity insurance and comply with all the Rules of the profession, such as sending a written estimate at the outset of a transaction.
Our Governing Body require us to observe strict standards of professional conduct including having indemnity Insurance in order to guarantee your interests. As Licensed Conveyancers, we must:
*Act with integrity and honesty
*Act with care, skill and diligence
The Administration of Justice Act 1985, set out “to ensure that the standards of competence and professional conduct among persons who practice as Licensed Conveyancers are sufficient to secure adequate protection for consumers and that the conveyancing services provided by such persons are provided both economically and efficiently”.
